Cast n Chill Update & Eastern Winds DLC Announced — Plus a Developer Interview

The season of crisp autumn breezes is just around the corner.
And in Cast n Chill, the charming pixel-art fishing adventure, a brand-new fishing spot has arrived.

Its name is Autumnwood Lake.
A lake painted in autumn colors, with leaves drifting gently on the wind.
Casting your line in such a setting is the very definition of seasonal luxury. Simply stop by Rusty’s Bait n’ Tackle — the cheerful local shop — to grab your license and set out right away.

This update also comes with the announcement of the upcoming DLC, Eastern Winds.
Cherry blossoms, bamboo groves, mist-covered lakes, and mysterious shrines create a stage that evokes scenes of Japan. Scheduled for release in June 2026, it’s already something to look forward to.

In this update, a brand-new lake has been added: Autumnwood Lake.
With crimson leaves drifting on the breeze, it’s a true “autumn lake” that radiates both warmth and seasonal charm.

Unlocking the area is simple.
Just visit the familiar old shopkeeper at Rusty’s Bait n’ Tackle and purchase the special license to set out on your journey.

Within the lake, you’ll find two enchanting fishing spots, each with its own unique scenery waiting to be discovered.

Shallows Edge

A tranquil stretch of shallow shoreline. Fallen leaves drift gently across the water’s surface, while an owl can sometimes be seen watching from between the trees. In the distance, snow-capped mountains rise high, creating a postcard-like scene that soothes the heart.

Otter Cove

In this small cove, smooth rocks and scattered driftwood line the shore, while a gentle waterfall trickles softly into the calm water. Here, a family of adorable otters has quietly made their home.

And at Autumnwood Lake, new encounters await to make your fishing time even richer.

8 New Fish Species
Among them are two legendary catches. They won’t reveal themselves easily, but every cast turns into a special challenge.

A Little Companion: Dachshund
A cute, sausage-shaped pup hops into your boat, keeping you company along the way. This small companion will surely make your fishing journey even more comforting.

New Rod: Copperleaf 86

A reliable new rod for anglers aiming at the biggest catches.
Its fluorocarbon line blends quietly into the water, delivering strength without alerting the fish, and supporting those tense, silent moments of battle.
Until now, fluorocarbon setups were limited to medium-sized rods, so this addition is sure to be a welcome one for many players.

What I felt most while playing was, without a doubt, healing.
The fiery crimson of autumn leaves reflected on the lake, and the grandeur of nature gently soothed my heart.
The warm tones of the season, the gentle murmur of the river, and the occasional bark of a dog — all of it came together to melt away the stress and fatigue built up from everyday work.

But Cast n Chill is not only about relaxation.
Equipping the new rod and lures, I found myself facing the thrill of battling legendary-sized catches.
As expected of such legends, they are not so easily caught. Yet each failure only made me want to try again.

The quiet moments of calm and the heated rush of challenge — it’s the balance of both that makes Cast n Chill such a special experience.

The next DLC, Eastern Winds, has been announced.
From the newly revealed teaser, a sense of a fantastical and beautiful world drifts through.

Cherry blossoms scattering in the breeze, bamboo swaying by the lakeshore, and an ancient shrine overlooking a mist-covered cove.
It is said that within these waters dwell mysterious fish you might otherwise only encounter in a dream.

You may cast your line along a riverside covered in water lilies, or drift across a misty mountain lake in search of an unexpected encounter.
Whichever the scene, each moment is sure to be filled with quiet healing and small surprises.

The new stage for adventure, Eastern Winds, is scheduled for release in June 2026.
It’s already something to look forward to.

Alongside the latest update and the announcement of the upcoming DLC, we had the chance to speak with Mark White (Director), the mind behind the development.
He shared a few warm words about the inspiration behind Autumnwood Lake and his thoughts on the upcoming Eastern Winds, scheduled for release next year.

Q1. What was the reason for adding Autumnwood Lake, and what kind of experience do you hope players will have there?
A. When we think about the North American wilderness, the vivid oranges and reds of fall instantly come to mind. That spark gave life to Autumnwood Lake. The contrast of icy blues against the warmth of autumn foliage feels both striking and cozy, and it was exactly the atmosphere we wanted to bring into the game. And yes, the chance to add more otters too! 🦦

Q2. Could you share a message for readers who are looking forward to Eastern Winds?
A. Eastern Winds will lean even further into a calm, zen meditative experience. It will showcase tranquil scenery inspired by diverse landscapes across Asia. We can’t reveal too much just yet, but as development continues we’ll drop more teasers along the way.

The quiet healing of a tranquil lake, and the heated thrill of battling a giant catch.
And beyond that, the anticipation of Eastern Winds, set to arrive next year.
